Overview

In response to growing mental health challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, KHM launched a comprehensive, multilingual awareness campaign to reassure Broward County residents that “It’s OK to not be OK” and to make them aware that support was available through United Way Broward, 211 Broward, and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

THE REQUEST

Develop and execute a multi-channel mental health marketing campaign during the COVID-19 pandemic, aimed at raising awareness among Broward County residents about available resources and encouraging them to seek support for themselves and others.

OUR ANSWER

Targeting the county’s diverse English, Spanish, and Creole-speaking communities, the campaign centered on the message “It’s OK to not be OK,” encouraging residents to care, communicate, and connect while seeking professional help when needed.

The initial campaign delivered millions of impressions from June 2020 through December 2021 (and was extended through 2023)

We used an integrated mix of TV and radio spots, digital and social media, outdoor advertising, public relations, and culturally relevant messaging.

The campaign significantly increased awareness of local mental health and suicide prevention resources.
